Marko Nikolic: It was a well deserved and important win

Marko Nikolic:

"I am very pleased with the three points and it was an important win. I felt that we deserved the victory. We controlled the game with the exception of the first few minutes and at the end. "We went into the spring season 3 points behind. We have caught them up but it is true that we did not do this by focusing on them. We concentrated on our own game day after day, match after match. „Things worked well in the first half until the first goal. We closed down the wings as we had prepared to. Our problem was defending the long balls forward. The first goal came from a free kick on the half way line. That was thanks to two of our players switching off. I asked the players for patience at the break and to hit our opponents on the counter attack. I was not counting on us conceding another silly goal. They would not have had a goalscoring chance had we cleared the ball better leading up to the second. We cannot afford to do this against a weaker side let alone Videoton. We have made individual mistakes during most of our games in the spring. There were errors against Ferencvaros, which were not calculated. You cannot practice this. Our team defending worked well and did not give chances for Nego or Stopira to go on runs. Lazovic was unable to start from deep. I hope that the players will be better mentally in the games ahead."
