The two managers spoke to the gathered press after the match.
José Gomes: "We were rather patient in the first half. We ruined several passes as we were nervy, wanting to score a quick goal against Ujpest FC. We are working on this to make sure we cope better with this in the future. I warned the players at half time to play with more patience. We did not play our own attacking football in the first 45 minutes. There have been one or two games when we have played poorer, but we lead the league table, having scored the most goals and conceded the least. This is why I do not feel the criticism justified, which the players have received. Naturally we have not always played well, as we did in the second half today. Kleinheisler is one of the biggest young Hungarian talents around, who is developing and learning plenty. He has started all of this season's 10 league games, and he has my 100% backing. We must not put too much weight on his shoulders, which is important as we want him to develop further. Getting back to the game, the second half was not that easy either. Ujpest FC are a much stronger side than their position shows in the table. They always play to win. However, we were better than our opponents today. We did not win because Ujpest FC played badly, but because we were better than them. I would like to ask the supporters, as the atmosphere was good inside the stadium today, to bring two friends with them for the next game. Let us try to fill the Sostoi stadium. This is not an impossible thing, so let us try to get more people to come out to enjoy magical moments."
Kozma István: "It is hard to say much after a game like this. We did not play as we would have liked to in the first half. No one should think that we came here to defend, Our plan was different to what happened out there on the pitch. Even though Videoton had one or two chances in the first half, there were no real problems in front of goal. One major problem was that we hardly had possession of the ball. We pushed ourselves under the water inside the first 5 minutes of the second half. The first goal was important for Videoton. The second goal and sending off put a stamp on our own game. In the end it came down to how many the home team would win by."
