Manager José Gomes was pleased with his sides first leg performance in the league cup
José Gomes: "I did not get as much as I would have liked from my team, based on the chances that we created. We created several chances in front of the Debrecen goal, and we had one on one chances at least four times. If we could have scored from just one of those, then I would have been satisfied. However, I was satisfied with the overall performance of the team, and I got what I expected from them. We also produced chances when it was eleven against eleven, but Debrecen changed the pattern of play, which was only normal after they had a player sent off. They became more defensive and closed down the areas. I feel that the mentality that we showed today, suggests that we will be able to score in the away leg, and progress through to the next round."
Kondás Elemér: "It is not easy to talk about this match, because I was not counting on this. Both sides had chances in the first half. The sending off influenced the outcome of the game. I sent my players out in the second half, to try and defend and be big, and to try and hit them on the counter attack. Our keeper made several good saves in today's game. Coulibaly could have levelled the match near the end, but it is true to say that Verpecz saved well in the final minute. The single goal defeat means that we have a chance of going through in the second leg."
