Vidi had the better of things at the Pancho Arena, but the home side were organized in their defending.
Vidi were in league action on Saturday afternoon at the home of Puskas Academy in Felcsut. It was the fourth time that the two sides had met in the first division, with Vidi having enjoyed 3 previous wins and a 9-1 goal difference in their previous 100% record.
It is now almost a year when on the 5th April 2014 in a league match, Vidi last suffered a defeat away from home. That was an away fixture at Kecskemet, with Vidi going on to play 12 times away from home since with 9 wins and 3 draws.
Many Videoton supporters made the short trip to Felcsut to back the league leaders. There were even those that cycled the distance between the two towns. With the 21st March being World Down Syndrome day, the two clubs wanted to draw attention to this. A total of 22 MSOSZ sports persons walked out together with the two teams before the start of the match.
The action began as early as the 2nd minute when Juhasz headed over the bar, with the majority of play taking place in the middle of the pitch. Trebotic found himself with a good chance after 15 minutes, which ended with keeper Hajduch saving the Croatian's shot from a tight angle. Stopira attempted to head the ball back towards his own goal 4 minutes later, which was intercepted by Lencse, who showed good movement before lifting his shot just above the bar. Tischler and then Alvarez both had dangerous moments in front of the opponent's goal, which both ended with the ball sailing over the goal. There were 35 minutes on the clock when the woodwork was twice struck. The first came when Simon's header from close range came of the bar, with Juhasz heading the rebound just wide of the left post. A dangerous free kick from Lencse brought the first half to an end.
There was very little action in the second half for quite a while. The first chance fell to the home side on 59 minutes. Tischler sent his close range header just wide. Vidi began to put their foot on the ball with more possession. However, they could not break through a well marshalled home defence. A powerful shot from Trebotic on 71 minutes went over the bar but it was a good strike. There was another 10 minutes before the next chance, which fell to Nikolics, but Hajduch was well placed to deal with it. The match could have been decided after 88 minutes with Lencse running clean on goal from the half way line, but Trebotic managed to get back and put the former Vidi striker under pressure, with Calatayud eventually saving with his feet. There was not change to the score with the only other event taking place in the 91st minute. Defender Vinicius saw his second yellow car, which resulted in Vidi going down to 10 men.
Puskas Academy FC picked up their first ever point in a first division match against Vidi. Videoton remain unbeaten away from home in 13 matches now. An international break will now follow with Vidi next in action in the Hungarian cup on the 1st April at the home of Pecs.
