Vidi came away from Gardony on Wednesday with a 4-1 away win.
Vidi were in MOL Hungarian Cup action on Wednesday as they travelled to nearby Gardony for a place in the last 32. Their third division opponents include several former Vidi players in their squad. Gabor Marton had four players under 21 years old in the starting line-up, which was: Kovácsik - Fiola, Toth, Rus, Zeke - Pinto, Dinnyes - Papp, Evandro, Geresi - Zivzivadze.
Geresi just failed to meet a 3rd minute cross from Papp. A Zeke pass a minute later ended with the same player shooting just wide. The home keeper was called upon after 9 minutes to stop a Zivzivadze header. Geresi shot from 7 meters against the crossbar as the early action continued. Another 10 minutes passed by before Konya fouled Zivzivadze inside the box. He picked himself up to take the resulting penalty, which the home keeper Balint Schener saved.
Vidi went ahead after 26 minutes after Papp curled a lovely corner into the middle, which Evandro met with his head from close range to make it 0-1. Another Papp corner four minutes later produced the second goal with Zivzivadze heading from close to find the back of the Gardony net 0-2.
Keeper Adam Kovacsik was injured on 33 minutes and he could not continue as he limped off to be replaced by Daniel Kovacs. Former Vidi player Krisztian Konya curled a shot just wide of the goal 5 minutes later at the other end. Another smart Papp corner was met by Pinto this time, whose header went wide of the target. Vidi went in at the break enjoying a 2-0 lead.
That lead was cut on 48 minutes as Tibor Toth was played through to find the bottom right corner from 15 meters to make it 1-2. The game was fairly balanced in the 15 minutes that followed. Vidi made things safe when Bolla played in Geresi down the right, whose precise ball into the middle was met by the arriving Zivzivadze who rolled the ball home to make it 1-3.
Daniel Kovacs saved a Balogh shot on 77 minutes as Gardony tried to get back into the match. The final 10 minutes saw Nikolic come on and he was on the end of a Geresi pass to make no mistake from 12 meters as he found the bottom right corner and increase the lead to 1-4.
Vidi put in a confident display to go through to the next round where a place in the final 16 will be on offer. The red and blues are next in action on the 31st October with a big home match against FTC.
