Second face third on Tuesday evening at the MOL Arena Sosto.
One of the first NB I "victims" of the pandemic was the team from Felcsut, as several footballers tested positive for coronavirus in mid-August. Because of this, they had to postpone their match against Bp. Honved from the first round of the NB I and play the first EL match in the club’s history with an extremely reserve line-up in Sweden - PAFC eventually suffered a smooth 3-0 defeat against Hammarby.
Many thought that Puskas Academy FC, which had been rejuvenated by youngsters due to the virus - their goalkeeper Auerbach Martin, for example, was only 17 years old and played an EL match before the NB I league game - would stumble in the league until their regulars were back. They did no such thing and won three of their first 5 matches and suffered a 2-1 defeat only against Ferencvaros, and were defeated 3-1 by us.
The season continued with the Felcsut team also losing four league games in a row, for example, Zsolt Hornyak's side suffered a 6-2 defeat away at Paks. In the last four matches, however, our county rivals returned to the path of success, PAFC defeated Budafok, Budapest Honved and Ujpest, and played out a draw against Kisvarda. After the 10th round, the team were only three points from the relegation place, then they rose to 7th place in the table, but today Puskas Academy are in the third place with 22 points. In the 14 league games so far, they have scored a total of 19 goals and conceded 22. The most successful yellow-blue player has scored 5-goals and is Antonio Mance.
