Vidi score late goals to earn a draw against Ujpest

Late goals from Scepovic and Hadzic gave Videoton a point at the Pancho Arena on Sunday.

Videoton played their third game of the 2017-18 OTP League season on Sunday evening. It was also the third consecutive game for Vidi at the Pancho Arena and visitors Ujpest came into the game on the back of two draws.

Director of Football Zoltan Kovacs was on hand to congratulate Mate Patkai who had made his 250th NBI appearance in last weeks win over Puskas Academy. The game did not start too well for the home team as Daniel Nagy scored a good individual goal on 7 minutes. He went down the left before cutting in and curling the ball beyond keeper Adam Kovacsik (0-1).

Videoton had their first chance of the game on the quarter hour mark. Lazovic hit a high free kick into the centre, which keeper Pajovic punched clear, but it fell to Suljic who hit the rebound at the former Vidi keeper, but in the end the assistant referee flagged offside. Not long after, Nego played in Suljic between two defenders, but the resulting cross did not find a red shirt. The action continued with the warm weather not affecting the tempo of play. Henty found himself with a chance on goal on 26 minutes from 19 meters out, but his shot went wide of the mark.

The next Ujpest chance arrived after 37 minutes when Novothny started a similar move to the one that had ended in a goal. However, he aimed for the near post and Kovacsik pulled off a good save. The resulting corner saw Lutauszki flick the header wide.

The second half started with slight chances for the visiting side. Lazovic sent a dangerous free kick on 54 minutes across the face of goal. Moments later, Mohl sent a long range shot into the hands of Kovacsik.

David Barczi was replaced on 57 minutes by Mirko Maric. The home side continued to try to find the equaliser and Henty tested Pajovic. Scepovic also played in Maric with a chance on goal, but the Croatian forward was denied by a defender, who managed to clear. The pressure continued on the Ujpest goal. There was a succession of corners and shots on the visitors goal. Despite that, it was Ujpest who played the ball into the Vidi half on 63 minutes, which bounced in front of Daniel Nagy, and the visiting forward did not find the target.

Henty saw his 67th minute shot denied by Pajovic from inside the box. There was a drinks break and it was Ujpest who reacted better by doubling the lead just after. Windecker found Daniel Nagy, who hit the ball into the back of the net (0-2).

A Novothny chance after 77 minutes was kept out by Kovacsik, before substitute Bence Szabo had a chance to impress when he came on for Lazovic. The sub had a chance towards the end, but Pajovics came out well from his goal to collect the ball.

Vidi deservedly scored a consolation goal on 86 minutes: a Szabo corner was headed home by Marko Scepovic (1-2). The Serbian forward hardly finished celebrating the goal before another corner was awarded to Vidi. Suljic sent his corner into the middle and Hadzic reacted best to score a good equaliser (2-2).

Henty tried to find a winner in the remaining minutes, which included a dangerous shot, but the final whistle blew and the two sides drew 2-2. Videoton are next in action in the Europa League on Thursday evening with the second leg against Bordeaux.
