A 1-0 win over Paks secured the 3 points in the final ever game at the Sostoi stadium.
It was a historic match that was played on the 12th December 2015. It was the last ever match at the grand old stadium before work begins on demolishing the venue and building a new modern arena, which will be ready by the summer of 2017. Paks were the visitors in the final game with a place in the top three on offer in the event that Vidi could secure the 3 points and other results go in favour.
Erika Miklosa sang the Hungarian national anthem before the match while sports director, Zoltan Kovacs handed over a shirt to Adam Gyurcso. The winger was playing his final match in the colours of Videoton FC before he tries his luck abroad with a new club from January. Gyurcso played a total of 164 games for Vidi.
The match kicked off without any real chances inside the first 10 minutes. The 11th minute saw Feczesin shoot on goal with his left foot, but the powerful strike came off a Paks defender and out for a corner. Poloskei tested the visiting keeper 5 minutes later from 23 meters out. The first real dangerous move from Paks came on 22 minutes. A corner ended with Gevay heading over from a good angle. Another move from Paks moments later resulted in a low shot from Koltai being saved by home keeper Danilovics. Gyurcso then curled a dangerous free kick on the half hour but the deadlock remained. Hahn on 35 minutes produced another good stop from the Vidi keeper, who tipped the ball over from under the bar. A long range strike from Poloskei went just wide of the target as the action continued.
A header after 45 minutes from Feczesin went wide of the post as the action continued in the second half. Filipe Oliveira came on in the 58th minute to make his 100th league appearance in a Vidi shirt. Gyurcso received a lovely ball on 68 minutes, but Paks keeper Molnar did well to deny the winger. Molnar punched a Gyurcso cross ahead of the arriving Feczesin, while Nego shot wide of the post from 9 meters. The breakthrough came with 10 minutes left on the clock. Gyurcso sent in a cross from the right and Krisztian Geresi smack the ball in from close range (1-0).
Paks opened up towards the end and tried to get the equalizer. That allowed Vidi to hit several counter attacks but they could not extend their lead. Videoton won their final ever match at the Sostoi and the last game of 2015 with a 1-0 win.
The players thanked the supporters for their backing throughout the first half of the season. Vidi will play their league and cup matches at the Pancho Arena from February. The new stadium should be ready in 2017.
