Vidi scored penalties through Nikolic and Houri and eventually clinched the game in the last minute thanks to a goal from Nego.
Vidi were in league action at the home of Budapest Honved on Sunday evening. The MTK stadium was the venue and it was the same stadium as the midweek cup win over MTK, which saw Vidi into the MOL Hungarian Cup final. Manager Imre Szabics chose the following eleven: Kovács D. - Bolla, Rus, Musliu, Stopira - Dárdai, Nego, Fiola, Petryak - Nikolic, Szabó.
There were no real chances in front of either goal in the early exchanges with the first effort coming on 19 minutes. Then a pass from Nikolic resulted in a shot from 25 meters from Bolla, which bounced off a defender and Tujvel saved. A minute later and a corner from Dardai was met by a shot from Nikolic, but Tujvel pulled off a smart stop to deny him. The first goal of five came shortly after as Gazdag made contact with Musliu, which saw the defender fall to the ground. The referee pointed at the spot and Nikolic calmly dispatched the spot kick to make it 0-1.
We were not able to celebrate for too long as Honved were quickly on level terms after 25 minutes. A corner from Gazdag was headed towards goal by Batik, but Nego cleared off the line, which was followed by another shot from Nagy, which again Nego reacted well to but Balogh was on hand to pounce and put the ball into the corner of the net 1-1. Vidi could have taken the lead for the second time moments later. Petryak sent a ball towards goal from a free kick. The ball fell to Stopira via Szabo, and he shot wide of the right post from 6 meters. Honved took the lead close to half time when they were awarded a free kick on 41 minutes. Dominik Nagy curled the ball around the Vidi wall and beyond the reach of keeper Kovacs. That saw Honved go in at half time with a 2-1 lead.
The second half began with an effort from Bolla, which went over the bar. A cross from Aliji on 54 minutes resulted in Zsoter having a chance, but our former player did not control the ball well and the danger went. Stopira headed a cross back towards Szabo, who allowed it to bounce before blasting over from 12 meters. Niko also lifted the ball over the bar from 15 meters following a Nego pass after 67 minutes. Vidi were level 10 minutes later when they were awarded their second penalty of the evening. Petryak fell to the ground on the edge of the box. This time substitute Houri stepped up and scored to make it 2-2.
Honved almost won the match after 89 minutes when Balogh shot low from close range, but keeper Kovacs did really well to save with his feet. It really was a very important save as within seconds, Vidi were up the other end with Nego providing Nikolic with a pass, whose shot was parried by Tujvel, but Nego was on hand to stab home the winner and make it 2-3.
We are next in action on Wednesday when the red and blues travel to Mezokovesd.
