Vidi and Budafok meet for the 33rd time on Saturday

Three important points are on offer when Vidi take on Budafok at the MOL Arena Sosto.

After 74 years, Budafok became an NB I team again, after Csaba Csizmadia's team finished in 2nd place in NB II in the "reduced" season of 2019/2020. The first team's historic, first-of-its-kind meeting took place on August 30 this year in Budafok. Our team won with a confident 4-1 victory: Nego struck twice with Niko and Petryak also finding the back of the, while Skribek scored for the home side.

Few know, but in previous decades we have played a further 31 matches against Budafok. We mostly met the red-blacks in the NB II and the Hungarian Cup, but a few times the two teams also compared their skills in a friendly match. We have won 20 of the 32 matches against each other so far, and in addition to 3 draws, 9 matches went in favour of Budafok. The goal difference is 62-28 for Vidi.

On the 4th August 1957, the two sides met for the first time in the 5th round of the Summer Totó Cup. We ran out 3-0 winners in front of nearly 3,000 spectators with the goals coming from Kiss, Horváth and Szőke. In the same year on the 22nd December 1957, we competed with Budafok in the NB II league, but this time our opponents were able to win 2-1 in Székesfehérvár.

In the years that followed, the two teams met regularly in the NB II, and the home team were always happy to win. The highest goalscoring match with Budafok came in the summer of 1966, when we won 6-3 away in the 3rd round of the Summer Totó Cup, Károly Balogh scored 4 goals for us in that game.
