The left back put in a good performance which was capped by the second goal for Vidi.
"Thursday's game was a special one for me for several reasons. The game with PAOK was played in a great atmosphere and we managed to win away in the EL group stage match. I have never before managed this as a Vidi player. We have re-written the history books in some way and I am proud of this and to be part of the team. I also scored a goal but I will most remember back to the evening as it was the first time I played against my friend and countryman Fernando Varela. We have played for many years together for Cape Verde. Before I signed for Vidi, we played for Portuguese side Feirense.
"We spoke a few weeks back while we were with the national team that we would come up against each other in the EL. We wished each other the best of luck before the match. Varela is a very good friend of mine and we respect each other. He came over to me at the final whistle and congratulated me for the win and also my goal. Naturally we also changed shirts. I am proud to have such a friend and also fellow international team mate" - commented Stopira.
