Report: Comfortable win against Haladas

Goals from Nikolov, Nego and Patkai earned Vidi a 3-0 win on Saturday at the Pancho Arena.

Match 30 of the OTP league season kicked off at the Pancho Arena at 17:00pm against Haladas. Vidi went into the game in second place and kicked off knowing that a win would see them leap frog Fradi to go top.

Marko Nikolic had to do without suspended duo Danko Lazovic and Roland Juhasz, which meant Attila Fiola slotted into the middle of the defence. Marko Scepovic and Szabolcs Huszti were named as subs with Istvan Kovacs and Jozsef Varga getting a starting place. Haladas had Predrag Bosnjak out through suspension with Milan Nemeth taking his place. Myke Ramos, Mate Toth and Michael Rabusic were out with injury.

It was Vidi who started the better and had the first serious chance: Istvan Kovacs linked up with Stefan, who sent a ball into the middle but a defender cleared ahead of Anel Hadzic. Kovacs shortly afterwards sent a free kick towards Stopira, but the opposing player managed to clear it.

A 6th minute Nego cross went over Stefan Scepovic, while Schimmer sent in a dangerous ball that Nego did well to intercept. Tamas Kiss was booked on 14 minutes for the visitors by referee Viktor Kassai. Stefan broke into the box on the right, before shooting with his left foot, but the ball was blocked by a defender. Videoton took the lead after 19 minutes. Stopira curled a lovely ball towards the far post, which Nikolov connected with from close range to make it 1-0.

A 23rd minute Kovacs corner was headed just over by Vinicius. Nikolov linked up together with Hadzic and Stefan, with Nego trying to flick the ball towards the Serbian forward, but Vidi's right back was pulled back for offside. Keeper Gabor Kiraly protested and was duly booked.

Stefan broke down the left on 27 minutes before cutting in and shooting with his right. Kiraly managed to comfortably save the effort. It was again Vidi that posed the danger four minutes later. Jozsef Varga saw his shot from 23 meters go wide of the goal. Attila Fiola was booked after 32 minutes for his challenge on Lorant Kovacs. Nikolov had a shot from outside the box go across the face of goal. A lovely move after 40 minutes ended with a great chance: Hadzic released Stefan down the right, who sent a very good cross into the middle for the arriving Patkai, but he could not direct the ball into the back of the net.

The sides went in at the break with Vidi leading 1-0. The second half was just 6 minutes old when Racz pulled back Nego, who fell to the floor and received a yellow card. The bar was hit on 53 minutes when defender Vinicius headed a corner against the upright.

The action continued with a Kovacs shot being blocked after 54 minutes, and Grumic blasted his shot against the advertising board. Racz was replaced by Mario Nemeth as Vidi continued to press for the second goal. Lorant Kovacs then pulled back Hadzic after 58 minutes and that earned him a yellow card.

The second goal arrived after 61 minutes: Varga sent a lovely long ball from the halfway line towards Nego on the right, who had ran in behind the defender. The French player controlled the ball and rolled the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Schimmer came off for Haladas with an injury after 64 minutes, with Kristof Polgar replacing him. Kovacsik flicked a cross away from danger and the defenders managed to clear the ball from the box. The resulting counter attack saw Hadzic with a chance on goal from 15 meters. It produced a very good save from veteran keeper Kiraly.

Halmosi came off for the visitors three minutes later with Pinte getting a chance. Nikolov curled a ball into the middle, which Stefan Scepovic sprinted towards but the ball got caught up in the legs of Kiraly.

Lorant Kovacs then tackled Hadzic from behind and he was shown his second yellow and a red to reduce Haladas to 10 men after 70 minutes. Stefan had a shot on goal after 73 minutes, but the move was flagged offside after Varga found Stopira with the ball. Nego then went into the box moments later and cut in before his left foot shot went wide of the target from 13 meters.

Marko Nikolic made a change on 76 minutes: Stefan came off to be replaced by his brother Marko Scepovic. The visitors had their first real chance after 79 minutes: Tamas Kiss tested Kovacsik, who came out the better with a good stop.

The match was settled after 86 minutes with Vidi scoring their third goal of the evening. Nego received the ball on the right from Varga. He played a first time cross into the middle for Patkai to connect with and make it 3-0. Stopira came off after that goal for Krisztian Tamas. Vinicius also came off before the final whistle and he was replaced by Bence Toth.

The one minute of injury time brought no changes to the scoreline with Vidi running out 3-0 winners against Haladas. Videoton are next in action away at Vasas next weekend.
