Report: Comfortable 3-1 win away at MTK

Goals from Nikolic, Zivzivadze and Houri secured the three points on Thursday evening.

The one but last OTP league match of the season was played on Thursday evening. Vidi travelled to Budapest in search of three points. The game was brought forward due to our involvement in the cup final on Monday evening against Ujpest FC.

Manager Imre Szabics made two changes to the side that lost to FTC at the weekend. Dardai and Zivzivadze took their places on the bench with Funsho and Houri starting the match. The team lined-up: Kovács D. - Bolla, Rus, Musliu, Stopira - Funsho, Nego, Pinto, Petryak - Nikolic, Houri.

The game began with a chance for Vidi on 4 minutes when Nikolic flicked on a cross to the far post, with Petryak sending his left footed shot across the face of the goal. The reply from the home side arrived after 9 minutes when Perkovic headed just wide of the goal. We took the lead after 18 minutes following a neat attacking move: Funsho going down the right before playing in Nikolic, who made no mistake from 10 meters to make it 0-1. The Vidi captain keeping his composure to place it into the bottom left corner.

The match temporarily stopped on 19 minutes in honour of MTK player and captain Jozsef Kanta. His fantastic playing career coming to an end in the same minute as his shirt number. The two sides formed a guard of honour as he was clapped off the pitch. Vidi's Director of Football Zoltan Kovacs handed him a present at half time on behalf of Vidi.

Perkovic after 25 minutes and 3 minutes later from the head of Nikolic caused danger at either end. Houri sent in a fine ball into the middle after 35 minutes, which Stopira rose to head over. MTK had their best chance after 37 minutes when a ball forward was met by Prosser, whose shot went across the goal. A move at the other end again saw Funsho provide Nego with a good ball, but he shot over from 15 meters. Vidi went in at the break with a one goal advantage.

The home side enjoyed more of the possession in the early exchanges of the second half. However, a free kick from Rus was blocked by the wall as the visitors from Fehervar went in search of their second goal. Shortly after and Nikolic was given a good ball and he tried to slip the ball beyond keeper Mijatovic, but the MTK keeper managed to block the shot. The home side were reduced to 10 men after 65 minutes when Herrera saw his second yellow card of the evening. Prosser shot at goal from 12 meters after 74 minutes but the score remained 1-0. Nikolic came off in place of Zivzivadze and the Georgian striker did not need long to secure the game with a fine individual goal. He turned his marker and went down the left, before cutting in and finding the far corner with a curling effort (0-2).

There was another goal after 82 minutes from a free kick. Rus and Petryak stepped over the ball with Houri curling it into the left corner from 22 meters out (0-3).

The home side could have scored a consolation goal towards the end but Kovacs punched a corner away, before Ferreira shot at goal, but again Kovacs saved but the assistant ruled the ball had crossed the line and the scoreboard read 3-1. Vidi now head into Monday's MOL Hungarian Cup final on the back of a good away win.
