Videoton came away with a point from their first ever visit to Balmazujvaros on Saturday.
Videoton made their first visit to the home of Balmazujvaros on Saturday. The league season commenced after the international break as the second third of the season kicked off. The two had shared a season opener 1-1 draw back in July. Match 12 of the campaign would produce the same result.
Vidi were missing suspended duo Patkai and Lazovic while Istvan Kovacs and Fejes also missed out through injury. The first chance of the game fell on 11 minutes and it also gave Videoton the lead. Henty received the ball and played it into the middle from the left. Scepovic rose unchallenged to head the ball into the back of the net from close range (0-1).
They could have doubled that lead three minutes later when Scepovic rolled the ball to Henty, who unmarked did not manage to put too much power in his effort. The Nigerian forward was again in the thick of the action on 24 minutes when the ball bounced in front of him, and he sent a strong shot towards keeper Pogacsics, who punched the ball clear.
The home side had their first chance after 35 minutes. That came following a corner, which was curled into the middle and eventually was met by Arabuli at the far post, but his close range header went wide of the empty goal. The equaliser came just before half time on 44 minutes. Andric received the ball from Vajda and he made no mistake to pick out the back of the net to make it 1-1. The same player had scored his sides goal in the opening game of the season.
The second half started with a chance for the home side. Andric again was picked out by his team mate inside the box. The former Ujpest forward turned and shot from 14 meters, but the ball went over the bar. Stopira and Suljic linked up on 54 minutes before a ball into the middle saw both Haris and Nego rise for it, but it was the Balmazujvaros player that came out on top and the ball went out for a corner.
Balmaz went on the counter attack after 59 minutes. Uzoma lifted a high ball forward and across to Vajda, who took the ball beyond Hadzic, before powerfully shooting from 15 meters out, but Kovacsik in the Vidi goal was alert and saved his shot. Fiola was replaced by Geresi as the game continued while Vinicius did well to block a shot from Andic.
Vidi had more of the ball and controlled things as they had done in the first half. However, they could not carve out chances on the home goal. Bence Szabo came on towards the end and there was also time for a Stopira cross to go above both Scepovic and Szabo. Videoton forced their opponents back behind the ball in the closing minutes of the game. Balmazujvaros defended with 10 men behind the ball and the referee blew for full time with the result 1-1.
