On Sunday afternoon, Vidi played at the home of FTC in the Groupama Arena. Our head coach made one change from last week's winning match against Újpest FC, with Kastrati replacing Levente Szabó, meaning that the following eleven players took to the green pitch in Budapest: Tóth B. - Csongvai, Serafimov, Gergényi - Bese, Flores, Christensen, Katona, Schön - Kastrati, Kodro.
Makreckis had the first shot of the game in the 3rd minute, but he didn't pose any threat to our goal. A few minutes later, Tóth fisted Ramirez's cross out and Traore finished the action with a sharp-angled shot over the top. At the other end, Kastrati almost took advantage of the hesitation of Dibusz and the FTC defence, but Abena was able to clear inside the home box at the last moment. In the 28th minute, Marquinhos' shot was well saved by Tóth, and Esiti took the rebound and aimed at goal from 18 yards, but missed. Before a minute had passed, we threatened again, Katona's shot was saved by Dibusz. This period of the game will be remembered for the excellent saves of the two goalkeepers, in the 32nd minute Pesic's shot was saved by Tóth, and at the other end Katona's shot under the bar was cleared by Dibusz. Shortly before the break, Marquinhos tested Balázs Tóth, but his shot towards the bottom left was saved by the goalkeeper.
At the start of the second half Pesic rattled the net, but the home player was caught offside and the goal was disallowed by the referee. In the 65th minute Kalmar's free kick was headed at goal by Kodro, but the ball ended up in the hands of Dibusz. Two minutes later, however, the packed away section of the Groupama Arena exploded as another Kalmár free-kick was headed into the top right corner by Levente Szabó, who had come on as a substitute shortly before (0-1).
Our team maintained the one-goal lead with tactical football, and in the 83rd minute Kalmár threatened again from a free kick, but this time the ball did not find the back of the net. It was a heroic battle on the pitch for Fehérvár, our team - considered by many to be underdogs and having never won a league game against FTC at the Groupama Arena - was on the verge of victory with minutes to go, and FTC went on a fully press us, but to no avail..
After 379 days, our team won an away match, and in a place where we have never won a NB I game before. Well done, boys! Go, Vidi!
