The Videoton head coach gave his reaction to Friday's two friendly matches.
It was an eventful day for the team on Friday at the Spanish training camp. A very young Vidi side went onto the pitch to face Lokomotiv Moscow. There was a more experienced side that ran out hours later to play another Russian club, FK Krasnodar. We spoke to Henning Berg to get his reaction:
"We were due to play the second team of Lokomotiv originally, but their friendly game on Thursday was cancelled. That is why they fielded their best side in today's game. That naturally made it a big test for the young players in the game. I have to say that they were better than the two goal difference. That is even if we had some fortune during the game. We had to defend more than we attacked, but the game was still useful for the players. Almost all of the players were given 90 minutes against a strong team. Lenart Andras played well in the middle while Viktor Sejben put in a good performance at right back. Zsolt Poloskei also did well and I was pleased to see both Andras Fejes and Adam Simon back on the pitch after their injuries."
Henning Berg shared his thoughts on the match against FK Krasnodar:
"We play in a very good match and there was quality football. We were missing the goal, especially mirrored with the fact that we had some good attacks and big chances. We should have won the game based on the chances. Krasnodar are a very good side and they defended well against us. They had one of the best, if not the best forward in the Russian side. This was the strongest side we have faced in pre-season. Krasnodar were sharper than Zenit. The two teams played a quick and intensive match. What was missing for the goals? We are still not totally "ready", and the training camps are mainly about getting ready fitness wise and about tactics. As the competitive games start to come, the chances we create will be finished off. I will say once more that as a manager, I was pleased with what I saw in the game. Let us not forget that we were up against a team playing in the Europa League and against the fifth placed side in the Russian league. We had some good attacks in a hard and sharp game."
Igor Shalimov: The former Russian international and now head coach of FK Krasnodar spoke about the useful game between the two side.
"This game was a useful step in our pre-season process. We played in a good game against a strong side. We played well, but we also need to recognise that we did have fortune on our side at times. Generally it was a useful game and we need to pick out things to learn from looking ahead."
