In a hard-fought match, Mmaee's 83rd minute header gave the visitors a 1-0 win.
The match, which was originally postponed from the 2nd round of the OTP Bank Liga was played on Wednesday night against FTC in Székesfehérvár. Over 6000 supporters were inside the MOL Arena Sóstó, before the kick-off with Géza Wittmann being greeted on the occasion of the 60th birthday by our club, while the kick-off was taken by Olympic bronze medal winning pentathlete Sarolta Kovács. RBD welcomed the team with a great banner.
Imre Szabics chose the following side to take on the green and whites: Kovács D. - Nego, Rus, Fiola, Stopira - Dárdai, Szendrei, Makarenko, Heister - Nikolic, Jallow.
The match started with a weak attempt by Zachariassen, and then Dárdai's shot deflected off a defender to go out for a corner, which Makarenko headed over the goal from. Adrián Rus had his moment, heading the ball out from in front of our goal from several crosses, and on 15 minutes, Zachariassen's shot was saved by Kovács. Three minutes later, Mmaee's flat centre failed to find Tokmac. In the 23rd minute we had a nice attack: Fiola won the ball, passing to Dárdai, who set up Nego on the right. Nego's cross into the middle was headed over by the onrushing Fiola from 6 metres. A minute later Civic's corner was headed over from 4 metres by Mmaee.
In the 27th minute, Jallow pounced onto a back pass, but the keeper Dibusz managed to save it. After half an hour, Mmaee went down the left, passing into the middle, Zachariassen missed the chance as it went wide. Two minutes later, Mmaee fired a left-footed volley from the edge of the penalty area to the top right but it did not hit the target. In the 38th minute Heister's cross was cleared away by Laidouni in the box. Tokmac's effort was blocked in injury time of the first half but there were no goals and the teams went in at the break with a 0-0 scoreline.
The second half started with a Vidi chance, Jallow's low cross was just missed by Dárdai in front of goal! 3 minutes later, Jallow's pass was put back to Nikolic and he fed Szendrei, who fired a 22-metre shot over the bar. We continued to attack, but FTC also had their moments: Heister's cross was headed out by Samy Mmaee, and at the end of the counter attack,Tokmac's pass was headed over by Ryan Mmaee. In the 57th minute, Szendrei's free-kick was headed wide by Makarenko, and a little later Uzuni's ball was headed wide by Tokmac from 7 metres out at the other end. In the 64th minute, Dárdai made a good run in from the right and shot, which Dibusz saved well. With 20 minutes to go, we twice tried with efforts from 30 metres, each chance looking promising, but unfortunately none of them resulted in a goal.
In the 74th minute, at the end of a quick counter attack, Tokmac set up Uzuni, whose shot was saved by Kovács. Five minutes later, Uzuni's corner rebounded and was followed by a 14-metre shot from Loncar. In the 83rd minute FTC took the lead, Ryan Mmaee heading home from Civic's corner from 6 metres into the bottom left corner (0-1).
We couldn't really create real chances in the last 10 minutes, but the visitors did twice, Uzuni shot over from 10 meters, Mmaee then missed the target from 15 meters. The scoreline remained unchanged as Ferencváros won by one goal at the Sósto. The next match will be on Saturday, when we will play Puskás Akadémia FC.
