A win at Paks sets up an exciting end to the league season

A second half owngoal secured all three points for Videoton on Saturday evening.

Vidi were again in league action on Saturday evening. The home side were celebrating their 300th first division match. The game kicked off with the first chance coming for the visitors after two minutes. Haraszti received a good ball inside the box, and after good movement, lifted the ball over the Paks keeper, but it did not end up in the back of the net. The action continued mainly in the middle of the pitch as both sides tried to gain the upper hand. There were virtually no goal scoring chances to talk about as possession moved from side to side. The biggest chance of the first half arrived after 31 minutes, with Tischler finding himself on goal. The forward took the ball beside the keeper, but the tight angle meant that he could not shoot at goal, but instead sent the ball in towards Oliveira, who could not find a goalscoring chance and the home defenders cleared the danger.

The second half started with a Tischler free kick, which unfortunately did not find the home goal. Bartha had a chance for the home side on 51 minutes. His shot from a tight angle from around 11 meters out brought a good save out of Danilovics. Kulcsar sent a header just wide of the goal 5 minutes later. A volley from Oliveira after 58 minutes caused uncomfortable moments for the home team, but the shot went wide of the right post.

Hahn had two goalscoring chances on the hour mark. The first resulted in his shot being blocked by the Vidi defence, while the second was a 100% chance that saw him with a one-on-one with Danilovics, but the ball rolled wide of the post from 14 meters.

Substitute Tibor Heffler sent in a corner on 65 minutes, which finally went in off Paks defender Kristof Papp to make it 0-1. The home side saw more of the ball in the final 10 minutes as they tried to find the equaliser. However, they could not find a way past the visiting defence with Vidi picking up the 3 points, for the first time in 5 years away from home at Paks.

Videoton are next in league action on Wednesday evening with a match against FTC at the Pancho Arena.
