The OTP league returns at the weekend following the international break. Vidi travel to Budapest on Sunday afternoon for their game with Honved.
Sunday afternoon will see the 107th league game that the two teams have met in the Hungarian first division. The 106 games so far have produced 46 wins for the team from the capital. Vidi have emerged winners in 40 games with the remaining 20 matches having been drawn. Budapest Honved have the better overall goal difference with 141-121 in their favour. Vidi have won 6 out of the last 10 games between the two. There have have been three where the points have been shared and just a single defeat, which was back in 2017 when Honved clinched the league title.
First league match:
That came in 1968 in match 11 of that season on the 26th May in Szekesfehervar. Vidi won 2-1 with their goals coming from Laszlo Kovacs. The same season saw the first game in Kispest, which Vidi also won 2-1 thanks to goals from Laszlo Kovacs and Karoly Balogh. It is interesting that Honved's keeper in those games was Bertalan Bicskei, who would later go on to manage the national side and also Vidi in 2003.
Biggest win:
It is amazing that the biggest win did not come at home but away at the Bozsik stadium in season 2012-13. That produced a 4-0 win with goals coming from Mitrovic (2), Oliveira and Kovacs.
The 100th Vidi goal
Roland Juhasz scored the 100th Vidi goal against Honved in the first division. That came in a game in Szekesfehervar in the autumn of 2015.
The biggest defeat:
Vidi suffered heavy 5-0 losses on both the 6th June 1987 and again on the 28th October 1995.
Highest scoring game:
There have been three games that have produced six goals. The first came in 1976/77 in match 19 of that season. The game in Szekesfehervar ended in a 3-3 scoreline. Gyozo Burcsa scored twice for Vidi in that match with Janos Nagy scoring the other. The second game came on the 16th April 1994 at the Sosto stadium and at the Bozsik stadium on the 5th Autumn 2007 in a game, which Honved won 5-1.
Most painful defeat:
That came three years ago in May 2017 when Honved beat Vidi 1-0 to lift the league title. The aim was clear before that important game. The side that would end up winning would be crowned league champions. A goal from Eppel did the damage as Honved collected the three points.
Best individual performance:
That easily went to Zoltan Csucsanszky who in season 1988/89 scored a hatrick in match 20 of that season. His goals helped Videoton to a 3-1 win in the game played on the 25th March 1989.
Player with the most goals:
Csucsanszky's three goals did not see him in first place as Gyorgy Novath found the back of the Honved net 5 times over the years. The striker scored those goal between 1978 and 1986. Those goals also saw Vidi win in each of those games during that period.
Scorers against Honved:
5 goals: Novath György
